Long Beach Police Release Photos of Truck Driver Wanted in Fatal Hit-and-RunLong Beach Police Release Photos of Truck Driver Wanted in Fatal Hit-and-Run

LONG BEACH, Calif. — Long Beach police have released surveillance images of a semi-truck driver and his rig as investigators continue searching for him following a fatal hit-and-run collision with a bicyclist.

The incident occurred near the intersection of West Pacific Coast Highway and Canal Avenue. As first reported by Patch Long Beach, a tractor-trailer was pulling out of a restaurant parking lot when it collided with 68-year-old Kevin Moran, who was riding a bicycle. The driver fled the scene immediately after the crash without rendering aid or notifying emergency services.

First responders initially dispatched to the scene believed Moran had fallen from his bicycle. He was transported to a local hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries the following day.

According to an investigation update released by the Long Beach Police Department, detectives obtained surveillance stills of both the suspect and the commercial tractor after the county medical examiner confirmed the victim’s fatal injuries were consistent with a motor vehicle impact.

Authorities noted that excessive speed remains under review as a potential factor in the collision.

Investigators urge anyone who witnessed the incident, possesses dashcam footage from the area, or recognizes the driver to contact Collision Investigation Detail Detective Paredes at 562-570-7358.
